When firefighters from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call to help rescue someone trapped

When firefighters from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call to help rescue someone trapped between two buildings, they weren’t sure what to expect. When they arrived and discovered an animal stuck upside down between two houses, they were even more confused.

Typically, firefighters get calls to rescue stranded cats or sometimes a trapped dog. This time it was a small deer.

The deer somehow got stuck between two upside-down walls, an impressive feat. Passersby noticed the deer and contacted local firefighters for assistance. Firefighters were struggling to find a way to access the complex rescue, so they contacted the RSPCA for further help.

“This was a difficult rescue because the deer was stuck so tightly and the problem was turned upside down, making it even more complicated,” animal rescuer Karen Nix said in a press release. That must have been very scary.”

Very carefully and under the supervision of the RSPCA, firefighters used ropes and poles to slowly pull the deer through the gap between two walls and eventually out safely. The deer appeared to be fine and uninjured even after its ordeal.

“It was such a relief to see him running free into the bushes,” Nix said.

No one knows exactly how the deer got stuck in the first place, but hopefully it will never happen again.
