The squad is more than capable of winning the championship but has to sit at home and watch Euro 2024

Most of the teams participating in EURO 2024 have announced their provisional squad lists. There are quite a few notable faces who missed their flights to Germany this summer.

Recently, England – the team that bookmakers expect to win the EURO championship for the first time in history – announced a list of 33 people and will have to cut it down to 26 players before June 7. Some of the top names absent include Marcus Rashford, Jordan Henderson, Dominic Solanke, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling and Levi Colwill.

Spain have also announced their provisional squad for this summer’s tournament. The Premier League trio of Rodri, David Raya and Marc Cucurella were all selected by coach Luis de la Fuente. But there is no place for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro, who has had an impressive season under Ange Postecoglou. Pau Torres and Lucas Vazquez are also absent.

France, another championship candidate, decided not to select one of the Premier League’s best performing players, Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise. Instead, coach Didier Deschamps decided to choose Bradley Barcola and Kingsley Coman.

And earlier this month, coach Luciano Spalletti announced the Italian team list. And there are only 10 people left in the squad that defeated England in the EURO 2020 final. In addition, people like Destiny Udogie, Manuel Locatelli, Ciro Immobile, Matteo Politano, Davide Zappacosta and Moise Kean are also missing.

So who will be in the lineup of the most notable stars who will not be able to attend EURO 2024?

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who suffered a torn ACL earlier in the season before tearing his meniscus, was not called up by Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco.

In defense, Arsenal’s Ben White was also not called up to the England team. Therefore, he will play alongside German national defender Mats Hummels and Austria’s David Alaba in the absent squad.

The Swedish national team will be absent from EURO for the first time since 1996. Therefore, Sporting Lisbon’s in-form striker Victor Gyokeres will have to sit at home and watch EURO 2024 on television. In the same situation as him, there are also Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard because the Norwegian team does not have tickets to Germany this summer.

Barca midfielder Gavi, another victim of an ACL injury, is also part of the talented midfield of the squad absent from this EURO period. In addition to him, there is also Palace’s in-form winger Michael Olise, Juventus midfield conductor Manuel Locatelli and MU striker Marcus Rashford.
