The “self-destructive” journey of a prodigy due to clouds and rain with 700 women
Antonio Cassano is an example of wasted talent. He could have become a superstar of Messi’s caliber, but in the end is only remembered for his sick sexual pleasures.
In the movie A Bronx Tale released in 1993, the character Lorenzo played by Robert De Niro said a famous line: “The saddest thing in life is wasting talent, and your choices will decide your life forever.”
At the age of 37, Antonio Cassano understood that more than anyone and in an interview, said: “If I didn’t destroy myself and had a smarter head, I could have played football until I was 60.” years old and on another planet with Lionel Messi or Neymar.”
From the poor district of San Nicola, Cassano has risen to become the brightest star in the world and is expected to become the first Italian after Roberto Baggio to win the Golden Ball. On the field, he can do everything with the ball, even things that even Messi cannot, as praised by his former teammate Leandro Cufre.
Unfortunately, Cassano never won the Ballon d’Or, not even in the nomination list. The wonderful moments he created were few, instead there were disappointments and regrets when watching the “Jewel of Bari” run on the field. Finally, to prevent the depression from lasting longer, Cassano retired at the age of 34.
For a long time, what was most talked about was Cassano’s debauched nights of partying, his sick sexual pleasures and his insatiable appetite, not his high-class performances.
Most coaches advise players to say no to sex before the match. As veteran Dutch strategist Clemens Westerhof explains, “normally it’s okay, but players tend to think about it all night and wake up the next day tired.”
Cassano is different. Regardless of the rules, he does it almost every day, especially before matches. Escaping from Roma’s Trigoria training center and having fun with the girls, returning at 6am, then playing a fantastic game (scoring a double and taking home a penalty) in a 4-0 win over Juventus making Cassano even more convinced that sex makes him hornier.
So where are the girls? As Cassano admitted, “I was a playable guy, but not handsome.” Normally, with his pockmarked face, no girl would even look at him. However, the difference is that Cassano is a player. Not only that, he is also a famous star praised by the whole of Italy and after leaving Roma, he played for the most prestigious team in the world, Real Madrid.
“Playing for Real gives me the opportunity, allows me to do it every day,” Cassano wrote in his autobiography “I will tell everything.” Whenever he sees a girl he likes, he just walks up and says a few casual things, like “you’re great.” It is done.
In Madrid, Cassano also had a friend who worked as a hotel waiter. This guy took the girls to Cassano’s room. And when it’s all over, he’ll show up at the door with a plate of cakes. Cassano received the cake and the other guy received the girl back. “Doing it and then eating, a perfect night,” he said.
In a shocking claim, Cassano said he had slept with 700 girls before the age of 25. 20 of them were famous people, such as actors, models or singers. Sex and cake, as Cassano said, soon made him fat, sluggish and slow. It kills talent, not only preventing him from reaching the level he could but also preventing him from playing football like he used to.
But Cassano cannot change the past. Lorenzo says “your choices will determine your life forever”. Therefore, the “Jewel of Bari” or “The Golden Boy of Italy” must accept the end of his career in regret.
