One day, RSPCA animal rescuer Ben Fitzcosta was dispatched to a forest in England to assist an injured fox that someone had reported seeing.

When Fitzcosta arrived, he identified who he believed was the fox in need of help. He then placed his cell phone on the ground and turned the camera to videotape the rescue.

But the phone ended up recording something completely different.

As it turns out, the fox Fitzcosta encountered was not the fox he was called to rescue.

“There were actually two foxes in the woods,” Fitzcosta said in a statement from the RSPCA.

The fox he began filming was perfectly healthy, as evidenced by what happened next.

After approaching Fitzcosta’s phone with a few curious sniffs, the fox then stole it – capturing some thrilling footage of his getaway:

“I can’t believe that just happened,” Fitzcosta said as he grabbed his phone, adding later: “Honestly, it made my day — the video was so funny.”

Luckily, after that interesting case of confusion, Fitzcosta was able to find out which fox was actually injured. He took her to a wildlife rehab facility for treatment.

“Hopefully she will make a full recovery,” Fitzcosta said.
