Pep names the 6 greatest players of all time
Pep Guardiola, one of the best coaches in history who led top teams such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City, expressed his opinion on the greatest players.
This 53-year-old coach just helped Man City win the Premier League for the fourth consecutive time in the 2023/24 season. During his coaching career, Guardiola has coached the world’s top stars such as Lionel Messi, Kevin De Bruyne, Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland.
In 2022, when sharing about Brazilian legend Pele after his passing, Guardiola listed 6 players he considered the greatest of all time.
He shared: “Honestly, I never fantasized about being Pele. I have never seen him play, but those who have witnessed him affirm that he is the greatest for them.”
“What he achieved was not only three World Cup championships and goals, but also an innovation in the style of play when he appeared. When Pele played, I wasn’t even born yet. Like a good movie, his legacy still resonates today, just like a good book – because he was so great.”
Guardiola continued: “Pele, Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff, Lionel Messi, Franz Beckenbauer, Cristiano Ronaldo – these players will live on forever.”
.
“For many years, they have contributed great things to football. Players like that make our work more meaningful. What Pele did brought emotions to everyone. We have seen the World Cup, a team that can bring pride to the whole country. No other tournament can create such intense emotions. This is what extraordinary players can do.”
