Ronaldo received a very heavy penalty after his disgraceful behavior towards opponents and referees
Cristiano Ronaldo will be suspended and fined after the “disgraceful behavior” that led to the straight red card he received in Al Nassr’s 1-2 defeat to Al Hilal, in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup.
Ronaldo was sent off in the 85th minute after elbowing Al Hilal defender Ali Al-Bulaihi in the chest outside the touchline. The report recorded by the referee stated that CR7 used “excessive force” when colliding with his opponent, leading to him receiving a red card.
According to Saudi Arabian media, Ronaldo will be suspended for 2 matches and pay a fine of 20,000 riyals (more than 5,300 USD) for his actions. However, it is unclear whether CR7 will be punished further or not, when he raised his fist to “punch” the referee at the time the “black shirt king” issued the red card.
The clip of Ronaldo raising his fist at the referee has spread widely on social networks. Many opinions believe that CR7 deserves a heavier penalty because of his very unsportsmanlike behavior.
At the end of February, Ronaldo was banned from playing one match for celebrating offensively in Al Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al Shabab in the 2023/24 Saudi Pro League. In that match, the 39-year-old striker was constantly provoked by Al Shabab fans by shouting Lionel Messi’s name, causing him to lose his temper.
This season, Ronaldo has appeared in 37 matches for Al Nassr in all competitions, contributing 36 goals and 12 assists. However, CR7 is facing a blank season with only the King Cup left to strive for. In the Saudi Pro League, it is very difficult for Al Nassr to overthrow Al Hilal because they are 12 points behind their opponents in the rankings, and the season has only 7 rounds left until the end.
