Rescued and carried a man carrying a 100kg elephant through the forest

A brave forest manager recounted how he carried a newborn elephant on his back because it was too weak to move.

Despite its charming appearance, this monster weighs over 100kg, making it larger than the guard Palanichamy Sarathkumar.

The animal was separated from its mother after falling into a ditch in Mettupalayam, southern India.

Workers managed to reunite the two elephants by encouraging the calf to walk again after removing it from the ditch.

But it quickly became clear that it could not walk even a short distance, so Mr Sarathkumar, 28, carried it about 50 meters.

“It’s really heavy,” he told the BBC. I picked it up on the spur of the moment.

‘People in my community are now asking me the same thing. How did you lift an elephant?

‘I was worried about losing my balance.’ But my friends jumped in and helped me control the calf and transport it.”

He went on to say that locals called to congratulate him after the video of him lifting the elephant went viral.

On December 12, Mr. Sarathkumar’s anti-poaching team received a warning call about a female elephant blocking the road and looking unhappy.

When they discovered the calf stuck in a ditch, they herded it back into the bush before investigating the area for other members of its family.

The first four people worked together to lift the calf in the subsequent rescue attempt.

However, because there was a risk of them being attacked due to the presence of an adult elephant nearby, Mr. Sarathkumar chose to carry it alone.

The two animals were eventually reunited, and forestry officials said the newborn would have died if they had not saved him.
