For years, we’ve known that Singer doesn’t skimp when it comes to restoring and rebuilding the Porsche 911. The air-cooled 964 has been a generational favorite in the 911 family; Singer’s latest project combines that with the Porsche 934/5 racing heritage of the 1970s. The result is called Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS) – Turbo. We simply call it incredible.

Before we get into the details of this new masterpiece from Singer, we need to take a short trip back to the 1970s. Porsche is racing with its new 911 Turbo, which takes the form of the 934 and 935 for FIA competition. In 1977, a hybrid version of these two racing 911s called the 934/5 was created for IMSA. It was so great that IMSA ended it right away, so Porsche entered SCCA competition and the 934/5 won almost every race it entered. It also brought Porsche the 1977 SCCA Trans Aм championship.

These cars carry the old style of the 934/5. The new twine bodywork includes wide fenders, rear air intakes, NACA ducts and an adjustable spoiler for legal track use. The splitter further enhances the aerodynamics of track use, and Singer actually calls this configuration a track-centered ʋersion. It’s the orange 911 featured here in the photos and it’s clearly inspired by the 935 part of the 934/5.

For customers looking for something less aggressive, Singer offers a road-focused version (shown in yellow, or specifically the Moet Blanc) that incorporates adjustable wings to create a classic ducktail spoiler on the backpack and a comfortable splitter on the front. And for those who can’t decide which version to choose, Singer makes a unique 964 that can accommodate other styles. Dry ducktails during the week, swap out adjustable wings and ig splitters, and party hard on the weekends.
