Pep Guardiola believes that one day Vincent Kompany will take over his job and become the head coach of Man City.

Kompany has spent 11 seasons playing for Man City, including 8 seasons wearing the captain’s armband. He retired in 2020 after 1 season with Anderlecht. Immediately afterwards, this midfielder was appointed coach of the Belgian club.

By 2022, Kompany agreed to lead Burnley and helped this team win the English First Division championship with 101 points. Remember, only four teams have ever earned more points than Bunrley in a season in this competition.

Kompany just had a return trip to the Etihad Stadium when his Burnley team lost 1-3 to Guardiola’s Man City. However, this loss left Burnley still in 19th place on the Premier League rankings – 7 points behind Luton in 17th place.

However, after the match, Guardiola still praised Kompany and the way he “prepared the battle” for Burnley.

Guardiola said: “Burnley are not an easy team to play against, they never give up. Today, we won because of the quality of players we have, not because we controlled everything or were better in every way. I feel like Burnley didn’t get the result they deserved.”

“Vinny will return to Man City sooner or later. I always feel like that. He is already a good coach after what he did last season with Burnley. You can see the ideas they have, the way they try to defend is fantastic. I like what he does.”

Recently, Pep’s future has been in doubt after Jurgen Klopp announced he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season. Guardiola has won all the glory with the Green Man and the team’s fans are worried that he has run out of motivation to fight.
