Nissan Skyline GT-R Safari is your dream 500 horsepower racing machine

This Nissan GT-R R32 was created by YouTuber Adam LZ and is equipped with upgraded suspension, off-road tires, 500 horsepower and more.

Last year, two unremarkable sports cars were included in the safari: the Porsche 911 Dakar and the Laмborghini Huracan Sterrato. But as far as we can tell, no one has been able to turn the iconic Nissan R32 GT-R into an off-roader – until now.

Partially inspired by the 911 Dakar, YouTuber and enthusiast Adamam LZ created the first “Safari GTR”. Adam started his career with an engineless R32 GT-R that he purchased for $10,000 and partially restored at a shop in Connecticut. He quickly fitted it with a modified RB26 inline-six from one of his other R32 projects, complete with a Gen 2 engine, new intercooler and an ECU tweak, giving the Safari GTR 500 horsepower at the wheels.

From there, the GT-R gets a custom long-distance suspension with 10.5 inches of ground clearance – nearly double the lift of the stock R32 and more than enough to tackle the trails. Meanwhile, 17-inch Rays wheels wrapped in Nitto Noмad Grappler tires (215/65R17) and WRX ud flaps further enhance the off-road aesthetics. And selectable aftermarket four-wheel driʋe control provides additional traction on dirt roads but can be switched to RWD for drifting enjoyment.

The front end features custom powder-coated fenders with 6-inch LED fog lights, while the hood features a powder-coated Niso roof rack with 4-inch fog lights. But because the R32 didn’t come with a roof rack from the factory, Adam and his team had to cut straight into the roof to install the roof rack. The car is upholstered in cool olive green and the interior features a roll cage complete with custom seats and camouflaged four-point belts.

The build reportedly took less than three weeks to complete, and the entire project was documented as a series of videos on Adam LZ’s YouTube channel. But he has bigger plans for the project – eventually the R32 will have better suspension, better brakes and certainly a snorkel for deeper puddles. It’s not that this GT-R can’t wade through deep water like it is.
