Netherlands finalizes squad for Euro 2024: Too confident with defense
With the guidance of coach Ronald Koeman, the Dutch team confidently aims to win the EURO 2024 championship in Germany.
The Dutch team has just announced the official list to attend EURO 2024 with familiar stars. In defense, Virgil van Dijk continues to play the role of leader. Notably, Matthijs de Ligt is still called up. In the 2023/24 season, the former Juventus player regularly serves as a reserve at Bayern Munich when coach Thomas Tuchel trusts Eric Dier.
In addition, we can mention many factors who flourished at the club such as Denzel Dumfries, Nathan Ake and Daley Blind – who contributed greatly to helping Girona win tickets to the Champions League for the first time. Heading into EURO 2024, the strength of the Dutch team still lies in the midfield.
Frenkie de Jong is expected to shine when he fully recovers from his injury. Another case is that Xavi Simons can play flexibly, playing the role of connecting with the satellites on the attack. It’s quite unfortunate for Maarten de Roon that the Atalanta midfielder is absent due to injury.
The strikers have become the biggest worry for the “Orange Cyclone”. Coach Ronald Koeman filled in the names of players who no longer maintain high form such as Brian Brobbey or Memphis Depay. Wout Weghorst also appears instead of Luuk de Jong.
At EURO 2020, the Dutch team is led by Frank de Boer. However, the once giant of European football soon stopped after a weak loss to the Czech Republic. This is the reason the Dutch Football Federation is forced to trust Ronald Koeman again.
The Dutch team will be in the same group as Poland, Austria and France. If they play properly, the Dutch team can aim for one of two places to go straight to the knockout round with France.
