Liverpool received lightning news right after losing to MU, the season was considered abandoned
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp could not hide his disappointment after seeing his team defeated 4-3 by Manchester United in the FA Cup quarterfinals.
Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup by rivals Manchester United in a roller-coaster match at Old Trafford. The Red Devils won 4-3 after extra time and booked a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Klopp appeared disappointed after the match, skipping an interview with a Scandinavian television station after appearing annoyed with a series of questions from reporters.
Previously, Klopp revealed that Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo all left the field due to pain after the Red Devils defeated The Reds 4-3 in extra time in the quarter-finals at Old Trafford. As the trio prepare to join the team, Klopp is worried about their fitness.
Klopp told BBC Sport: “Now, the boys go on international duty. We hope they will return healthy. Luis felt Darwin’s groin and hamstring problems, Cody twisted his ankle. They’re playing again in four or five days, which is crazy. Hopefully we will finish the season in style.”
Klopp had a lot of injury concerns as the season entered its climax. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip are among the names on the long list that the Anfield team has lacked service in recent weeks.
The loss of three more attacking players will only exacerbate Liverpool’s problems amid a tense battle for the Premier League title.
For Man Utd, this victory also ended Liverpool’s dream of winning four titles this season in Klopp’s final campaign in charge of the Red Brigade. The Merseysiders are still competing in the Premier League and Europa League, but Klopp will not be taking another trip to Wembley with his side when he steps down in the summer.
Liverpool will now enjoy some time off due to the international break. Klopp’s side return to action on March 31 against Brighton at Anfield in the Premier League. They are currently ranked second in the Premier League rankings, behind Arsenal on goal difference.
