CR7. Rare: Player bids farewell to Euro 2024 because he fell off his bike

A Czech Republic player has been ruled out of Euro 2024 after suffering an injury while cycling.

Michal Sadilek was named in the Czech Republic’s squad for Euro 2024. However, the player will now miss Europe’s biggest football festival after falling off his bike.

Accordingly, the 25-year-old midfielder suffered a tear in his leg after the fall, ending his hopes of representing the country this summer. The FC Twente star was participating in a personal training session when the incident happened.

A statement from the Czech Republic national team read: “The players who played more than half a half in the friendly match against Malta had an individual training session on June 9. Unfortunately, Michal Sadílek fell while cycling and suffered a laceration to his leg area.”

Meanwhile, coach Ivan Hasek admitted that Sadilek would be a big omission for his team: “It’s a big omission for us, because Michal is one of the more experienced players. After all, he also wore the captain’s armband in the match against Malta.”

“On behalf of the entire team, I wish him a speedy recovery. We will decide in the near future on Michal’s replacement.

Michal Sadilek has 24 caps for the Czech Republic and as mentioned, he wore the captain’s armband in the recent 7-1 friendly victory over Malta.

The Czech Republic will begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Portugal on June 18, before facing Türkiye and Georgia in Group F.
