Close-up of Man City star’s gruesome injury
Mattheus Nunes broke his finger in the match between Man City and Copenhagen in the round of 16 of the Champions League early in the morning
In the 74th minute, Nunes screamed miserably on the field. The former Wolves player broke his middle finger after a landing. The medical team was immediately present to take Nunes off the field, while coach Pep Guardiola quickly replaced young player Micah Hamilton.
After leaving the field, Nunes had his joint adjusted by Man City’s medical staff and his finger was fixed before going to the hospital for a closer examination. According to Talksport, the pain made Nunes cry on the field.
After spending time on the bench, Nunes was given the opportunity to start in the Champions League by Pep. However, the former Wolves player did not leave much of an impression before getting injured. In more than 70 minutes on the field, Nunes did not have a shot or a pass to create an opportunity.
The first season at the Etihad was difficult for the 26-year-old star, when he often had to sit on the bench and could only come on the field for the last few minutes or start in the FA Cup, a tournament Man City did not take too seriously.
Against opponents not at the same level as Copenhagen, Man City easily won 3-1 in both rounds of the round of 16 matches. Manuel Akanji, Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland scored in the second leg at the Etihad. Coach Pep Guardiola and his team still have a chance to repeat last season’s treble
According to Opta , “The Cityzens” became the first club in the history of every European Cup tournament to score 3 or more goals in 9 consecutive home matches. Man City also extended their unbeaten record in the Champions League (21 matches), thereby reaching the quarterfinals for the 7th consecutive time.
