Cadillac reveals Project GTP Hypercar previewing third-generation racing prototype

Cadillac revealed Project GTP Hypercar previewing the American luxury car brand’s third-generation racing prototype.

In 2023, Cadillac will compete in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Co-developed by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing and Dallara, Project GTP Hypercar incorporates key design features of the brand.

Elements of the brand’s heritage such as vertical lighting and floating wings are present throughout and connect Project GTP Hypercar to Cadillac’s future.

Since 2017, Cadillac has led American sports car racing in the IMSA Manufacturers Championship with multiple wins, podiums and championships in the Cadillac DPi-VR. The new race car will be powered by an all-new 5.5L DOHC V-8 engine that will be paired with an LMDh conventional hybrid system.

The company’s recent expansion includes the CT4-V and CT5-V sports sedans, the Escalade-V as well as the road-going CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing.
