Accordingly, the dog Bobi lives with his owner Leonel Costa in the village of Conqueiros, southern Portugal. Bobi is a purebred dog of the Rafeiro do Alentejo breed, trained to protect livestock.

Mr. Leonel Costa said, since Bobi was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest dog, many fans have come to visit Bobi. But now, Bobi has difficulty moving and his eyesight is decreasing because he is old.

There are so many people visiting now that Bobi is worried. “He took a lot of photos and had to stand up and sit down many times. That is not easy,” Mr. Leonel Costa said.

It is known that on May 13, more than 100 people and a performing troupe attended Bobi’s 31st birthday party in his hometown.

Bobi’s owner believes that this dog’s longevity may be partly due to his quiet, peaceful living environment.
