Audi expands production of the R8 supercar to meet the needs of users. The car is a top priority for car enthusiasts in terms of luxury and class.

2023 marks the end of Audi’s junior sports car line, the TT, and the Aig-boy R8 is expected to launch soon after. However that did not happen. Although the original plan was to end production of the V10 supercar before the reschedule, the naturally aspirated engine continued to operate.

Speaking to German business newspaper Autoмobilwoche, Audi confirmed that the R8 is still being produced at the Böllinger Höfe factory, where the company also assembles the RS E-Tron GT. That’s despite the fact that the R8 V10 GT RWD is set to be the conclusion of the model that was introduced in October 2022. Knowing that the end of the range-topping Audi Sport is coming, it seems wealthy customers are rush to buy a new one.

A direct replacement is not planned as the Volkswagen Group is currently producing the 5.2-liter V10 engine. Yes, that also means the Lamborghini Huracan’s successor will lose its 10-cylinder engine. Instead, Raging Bull plans to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain around a smaller sized internal combustion engine.

Audi Sport does not give up on the idea of creating a specialized high-end car model. Officials have hinted that an electric R8 could one day appear on the VW Group’s upcoming Extended System Platform (SSP). The new hardware can be adapted to “iconic cars – sports cars etc” Perhaps this also means that one day the TT will also be a success? We shall see.

Remember that Audi already produces an electric R8. However, it was a commercial failure as the R8 E-Tron was discontinued after selling less than 100 units. It debuted at the 2015 Geneʋa Auto Show and was only available for a year in Europe, where it had an eye-watering price tag of 1 million euros. This rather unbelievable electric supercar is not available at dealerships because you have to go to Audi headquarters to order it.

In fact, it’s not included in the configurator, so without proper marketing, it’s bound to fail. Of course, the exorbitant price tag doesn’t help its cause either. Ideally, Audi will have a better strategy for the new electric R8, which we hope won’t cost big numbers. The sleek PB18 E-Tron hints at the prospect of an R8 without a combustion engine, even though that idea is nearly four years old.
