Arsenal fans were indignant at Leverkusen provocative actions

Immediately after Arsenal failed to win the Premier League title, Bayer Leverkusen posted a provocative tweet aimed at Granit Xhaka’s former team, infuriating “Gunners” fans.

This morning (May 20), Man City defeated West Ham 3-1. That result made Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Everton meaningless. With 91 points after 38 rounds, Man City won the Premier League for the fourth consecutive time. Arsenal sadly ranked runner-up, with only 2 points behind their opponents.

After the match, Bayer Leverkusen’s X page (old Twitter) posted a picture of player Granit Xhaka celebrating the Bundesliga trophy he just won with the German team, with the caption: “What a great feeling.”

Leverkusen’s actions were met with criticism from Arsenal fans. Many people believe that Leverkusen’s tweet is an act of irony about Arsenal’s inability to win any titles this season, despite their impressive Premier League campaign.

Bayer Leverkusen’s behavior is said to provoke Arsenal.

Arsenal fans considered it a disrespectful and provocative act, especially when it was posted right after Arsenal’s defeat and the photo was of Xhaka. In the summer of 2023, Arsenal sold Xhaka to Leverkusen for a fee of about 25 million euros. A year later, while Arsenal bitterly missed the title, Xhaka had a brilliant season with Leverkusen, convincingly winning the Bundesliga championship with the club and reaching the finals of the Europa League and German Super Cup.

“This is a violation from Leverkusen’s social network page administrator,” an Arsenal fan commented. Another wrote: “Admin, what are you cooking?”…

Last month, Xhaka’s teammate Jeremie Frimpong also made a statement that was said to be aimed at Arsenal after celebrating Leverkusen’s first title with his teammates. In a video shared live on Instagram, Jeremie Frimpong boldly said: “We won the title. Granit, you’re from Arsenal, aren’t you, but you’ve won titles here.”
