Suzette Hall, founder of dog rescue organization Logan’s Legacy 29, is used to receiving calls about stray dogs in Southern California. Good Samaritans in Orange County often contact her whenever they see a puppy in need. Recently, however, she answered a call that was most disturbing of all.

The Good Samaritan reports finding not one, but three small dogs abandoned on an abandoned property in Compton – and they refused to leave each other’s side while waiting for help.

As soon as Hall saw the photo of the puppies, she knew rescuing them would be difficult to plan. It’s hard enough to confine one scared dog, let alone three. But she knew she was their only hope.

“It was heartbreaking to witness this scene,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “They are all very small.”

Hall’s rescue mission was unexpectedly delayed for several days because her rescue vehicle had mechanical problems. Meanwhile, her friend, Mary Nakiso, visited them every evening, leaving them nutritious food to prepare while they waited to be rescued.

When Hall finally reached the compound, she was stunned by the trio’s loyalty to each other.

“They were scared, but they had each other,” Hall wrote. “And boy, do they love each other?”

Hall showered the puppies with loving affirmations from a comfortable distance, then devised a plan to catch them. She catches the smallest of the three puppies, whom she names Oscar, while Nakiso tries to win the trust of the middle puppy. Luckily, Nakiso didn’t need much convincing.

“She loved Mary so much and Mary got her,” Hall said.

Hall and Nakiso were delighted to lift Oscar and his sister, Jolene, off the ground and safely into Hall’s truck. But their slightly older brother, later named Ollie, caused more trouble for the rescuers than the first two.

“The third boy was extremely scared, he kept going into the garage,” Hall wrote.

Hall and Nakiso decided to give the puppy some space and drove his siblings to Camino Pet Hospital while the dog decompressed a bit. That evening, Hall returned to the property with a humane dog trap and placed it next to the garage where Ollie was hiding.

Hall breathed a sigh of relief the next morning when he discovered Ollie sitting in the trap. She drove him straight to the veterinary hospital, where he was reunited with his siblings.

“They were all very scared. So cold, so hungry,” Hall wrote. “But in the end they are all safe. They have each other again.”

The triplets quickly received a clean bill of health before going together to the foster home, where Hall’s close friend, Genavie Ochoa, has been caring for them ever since.

While Ollie is still quite timid, his siblings are becoming more and more comfortable with their surroundings. Despite their setbacks, their rescuers remained hopeful that they would all fully recover from the emotional turmoil they had experienced.

“Ollie was very scared, but the other two were very sweet and loved belly rubs,” Hall told The Dodo. “These poor kids have been through so much.”

@_genavie_These adorable little kids, I’m trying my best to make friends with the other one. He will need more time and that will be fine. They were rescued from an abandoned house in Compton. Someone left these three little children to fend for themselves. They are really tiny! Hall hopes to soon see Ollie, Jolene and Oscar find their perfect forever family. Until then, she finds comfort in knowing that by cuddling together in a warm and safe environment, the puppies already feel at home.

“I’m sure they haven’t slept this well in a while,” Hall wrote. “They were saved and had each other.”
