Nottingham Forest defender Felipe escaped a controversial red card after grabbing Bruno Fernandes by the neck.

In round 5 of the FA Cup, at City Ground, Casemiro scored in the 89th minute to help MU defeat host Nottingham Forest 1-0 to enter the quarterfinals. As the match progressed into the final minutes of extra time, scuffles broke out between players on both sides.

VAR then stepped in but Felipe was not sent off. MU fans were extremely angry after the actions of the home team’s players. Reacting to the above incident, a fan wrote on social networks: “PGMOL has confirmed that players are now allowed to grab opponents by the neck.”

Witnessing Felipe grab Bruno’s neck but escape the red card, fans did not forget to recall Casemiro’s above situation. An angry fan said: “Remember that Casemiro was sent off the field for the same thing”, “If it was Casemiro, he could have been banned for 6 matches because of that”.

Last season, Casemiro received a direct red card for a similar action, when he used his hands to strangle Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes. The referee controlling the match at that time, Mr. Andre Marriner, checked VAR and decided to disqualify the Brazilian star.

The English Football Association (FA) later also maintained the three-match suspension for Casemiro, although the Brazilian player’s behavior was less aggressive.

Although Felipe did not receive a red card, MU still has a ticket to the FA Cup quarterfinals. The Red Devils defeated the home team 1-0 with a goal in the 89th minute. Bruno Fernandes assisted Casemiro to score his 5th goal of the season.

The 1-0 victory brought MU to the FA Cup quarter-finals for the 9th time in the last 10 seasons. However, they will have to overcome English League Cup champion Liverpool to reach the semi-finals.
