Liverpool paid a heavy price after winning the League Cup
Liverpool was both happy and sad after defeating Chelsea in the League Cup final.
Liverpool had a not easy match against Chelsea. They were missing many important pillars so they could not create an overwhelming position for their opponents. It wasn’t until the 118th minute that Virgil van Dijk scored the only goal of the match to bring the trophy back to the Red Brigade.
However, this victory was not perfect for Liverpool as they had two more stars injured. The first person, Ryan Gravenberch, had to leave the field on a stretcher in the first half after being stepped on by Caicedo. VAR reviewed this situation, but the Chelsea star did not receive any penalty.
Gravenberch’s injury makes Liverpool even more worried. Currently in their squad, there are a series of stars who have not yet been able to recover from injuries such as Allison, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Szoboszlai, Jones, Thiago, Jota, Salah and Nunez.
In addition to Gravenberch, another Liverpool midfielder is also hurt, Wataru Endo. The Japanese player suffered an ankle injury after a foul by Caicedo. According to The Guardian, Endo had to leave the field on crutches after the match.
These two cases thicken Liverpool’s list of “sick soldiers” now that they were previously missing 10 players due to injury. The number of Liverpool’s “sick soldiers” has now increased to 12. This must make “The Kop” worried because they still have an extremely difficult journey to win the Premier League with Man City and Arsenal.
With the Red Brigade still fighting in three more tournaments, their fans will have to pray for these players to recover quickly.v
