Unlike his junior Alejandro Garnacho, midfielder Angel Di Maria vowed never to celebrate a goal like Ronaldo.
Di Maria was Ronaldo’s teammate at Real Madrid and also worked side by side with Garnacho in the Argentina national team.
Garnacho always considers Ronaldo his number one idol. Young MU players often celebrate goals in the “cool” style of the Portuguese star.
But Di Maria has the opposite opinion of his fellow countryman. The Benfica midfielder confirmed in Ole:
“The only thing I never do is celebrate like Ronaldo. If I score a goal I will celebrate like Messi. I’m always steadfast with that.”
Di Maria spent 5 seasons playing for Real Madrid (2010-2015), a period during which he and Ronaldo won many titles including 1 Champions League and 1 La Liga.
After leaving Real Madrid, Di Maria went to MU, PSG, Juventus and currently plays for Benfica.
Talking about Garnacho, Di Maria highly appreciated the potential of his compatriot:
“Garnacho is very fast, he has incredible potential. He will learn many things when he joins the Argentina national team.
“He has a bright future. That depends on what’s in his mind. I have nothing to say about Garnacho wearing the MU shirt.”
Garnacho has had 3 seasons playing for the MU first team. This season, the 19-year-old player has appeared a total of 29 times and scored 5 goals.
Coach Erik ten Hag said that Garnacho has made clear progress, especially in finishing.
The Argentine winger is gradually gaining Ten Hag’s trust. Garnacho has started in all 11 recent Premier League matches.
