Updated January 30, 2024: Over the weekend, at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction, the first production Ford Mustang Dark Horse sold for $375,000. All sales prices will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) charity, which works to prevent and treat type 1 diabetes.

Ford plans to continue its longstanding tradition of helping good causes by auctioning off the first 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, all in the name of charity. The sports car will be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction on January 27.

The first Dark Horse was finished in Ember metallic blue. Equipment includes Recaro sport seats, accent trike and Handling and Appearance packages. MagneRide suspension, a K-brace Torsen rear differential and Pirelli Trofeo RS tires on staggered wheels are also part of the factory-fitted enhancements.

Just like any other Dark Horse Mustang, the VIN 001 has a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 under the hood, rated at 500 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a Treмec 6-speed manual transmission.

As a reminder, the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse starts at $60,850 including destination tax and handling fee. Barrett-Jackson has no estimate for the sale price of the first production Dark Horse, although it’s worth noting that the first 2024 Mustang sold for $490,000 at a similar auction a year ago. Ford said the entire sale price will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) charity, which works to prevent and treat type 1 diabetes.
