1. Most goals scored in a season: 34

Messi, who scored 16 goals for Paris Saint-Germain last season, could have more than 34 goals in his sights, after making a productive start to life at Inter Miami.

The team will begin its MLS 2023 campaign against Charlotte on August 21.

2. Most assists in a season: 26

Former Colombia international Carlos Valderrama had an impressive 26 assists for the Tampa Bay Mutiny in 2020.

Messi had an assist for Inter Miami. As well as most goals in a season, he will also be eyeing the assist record ahead of the new MLS season.

3. Most goals from free kicks: 13

If La Pulga can take 13 free kicks in MLS, he will equal Sebastian Giovinco, who joined Toronto FC from Juventus in 2015.

4. Inter Miami’s all-time leading scorer – 29

Messi is only 27 goals away from Inter Miami’s record for most goals scored.

His compatriot, Gonzalo Higuain, holds the current scoring record with 29 goals. He spent three seasons at the club after leaving Juventus.

5. Most consecutive wins: 15

Inter Miami could be a recognized force in MLS next season, with Sergio Busquets following Messi to join the Florida-based side.

Other star players such as Jordi Alba and Sergio Ramos have also been linked with moves to the club.

But with the team that David Beckham is forming in Miami, they could have that record in the upcoming MLS season.
