Foret’s tattoo journey started with a simple thought – she wanted to do better than a tattoo she saw on a friend. “I didn’t start it for a big reason,” she shares. When I saw my friend’s old tattoo, I had a bold thought: ‘I will do better than that’. “This playful idea and her artistic vision became the starting point for Foret’s tattoo career.

Getting started in the world of tattooing was not a straight path for Foret. She learned the craft twice, first from someone she knew and then at a famous tattoo shop. Like any other skilled tattoo artist, the early days were not easy, especially working almost alone for three years. But things changed for the better when she learned from a famous tattoo shop.

Love for nature-inspired tattoos

Flowers, plants, animals and other natural elements are Tattooist Foret’s forte. When asked about her love for elements inspired by nature, she passionately replied, “Nature has a timeless beauty. The inspiration you can find in Nature is endless: patterns, colors, shapes, etc

Whether it’s a script tattoo adorned with flowers or stingray rays flowing elegantly across the skin, Foret’s tattoos capture the complexity of Nature. “Good skill and good design make for a beautiful tattoo.” It’s not just about technical skills but also about how the elements come together. This has to do with the composition of the different ingredients, the balance of the colors and the overall aesthetic.

But she didn’t stop there; Foret believes that having a healthy mindset is also important for good tattoo artists. The nature of a tattoo artist is demanding. Burnout and creative block can threaten a tattoo artist’s output.

Foret also spoke about the challenges Korean tattoo artists face, especially the struggle to promote themselves due to tattoos being illegal in South Korea. Despite the obstacles, Foret expressed gratitude for the support she received from customers in Korea, both emotionally and financially.
